Spruce Bark Beetle Work

Marks and burrows made by the larvae of European Spruce Bark Beetle Ips typographus on Norway Spruce Picea abies. The bark has been removed and peeled back by Eurasian Three-toed Woodpecker Picoides tridactylus. This woodpecker specialises in predating the larvae of bark beetles.
