Roadkill: Beech Marten

The presence of some animals can be revealed when they are found dead on roads. Here is a dead Beech Marten Martes foina, a species that is often rather common in urban areas but mostly nocturnal. Photo taken by Gerard Gorman, at Aggtelek, Hungary, June 2012.

House Martin Nests

This photo shows two rows of House Martin Delichon urbica nests. The house owner had placed a shelf below the top row to catch the droppings that fall down. Credit to him/her as some house owners remove the nests because of the mess the birds make. But these martins subsequently made another row below the shelf!
